About

Dr Tamsin Bowers-Brown is an Associate Professor of Learning and Teaching at the University of Derby and is Head of Social Justice and Pedagogic Practice. As a sociologist of education, Tamsin’s interests are situated in addressing inequality in higher education; both through critical engagement with policy and practice and in developing teaching policies and pedagogic approaches that are situated within a social justice framework. Tamsin’s research interests are in social mobility and aspiration, exploring how policy discourses associated with these concepts influence educational practices. Tamsin also has an interest in critical pedagogy and this influences her teaching practice and approach to student engagement.
